Introduction
As the Monad mainnet approaches, the Monad Foundation officially announces the MON airdrop. This airdrop will distribute tokens to 5,500 Monad community members and approximately 225,000 broader crypto community members. The core idea of the MON airdrop is to allow those who truly "live and breathe Crypto" to become the first stakeholders of the Monad network.
The distribution of MON tokens is divided into five main categories, each with several subcategories. Individuals who meet the criteria for multiple subcategories can stack their corresponding shares.

Anti-Witch Mechanism
The primary goal of this airdrop is to make Monad community members and deep blockchain users the first stakeholders of the network. The challenge is that new networks often become prime targets for witch attackers and bulk registration farms. When designing the screening criteria, we focused on which behaviors are easily faked by witches and which are harder to fake. For example, "low-value repeated trading" can easily be completed by scripts, so it cannot be used as an effective independent standard; otherwise, the shares of real users would be diluted by massive bots. Ultimately, we selected a set of standards that reflect both high on-chain activity and real off-chain contributions:
On-chain dimension: primarily measures long-term capital accumulation in DeFi protocols, active high-frequency traders on DEXs, specific NFT collectors, etc.
Off-chain dimension: social identity verification, participation in Web3 education and community activities, contributions to public goods/security research, etc.
The foundation also extensively used manual labeling and launched two applications, Monad Community Recognizer and Monad Cards, inviting the community to participate in the screening.
Additionally, we collaborated with third-party provider Trusta AI to conduct witch detection and removal on on-chain addresses; their expertise in anti-witch distribution provided significant assistance.
Monad Community
The Monad community is the largest component of this airdrop. The reason is simple: the community is everything.
Monad has always emphasized that a smart and insightful supporter can change the trajectory of a startup project. For Monad, this influence is magnified thousands of times.
Monad community members continuously push their own boundaries: founding new companies, initiating initiatives, building audiences, exercising creativity, organizing others… They demonstrate through action that the way the world trades can not only undergo fundamental changes but that such changes are highly probable, all stemming from persistence, fearlessness, and a bit of luck.

Unlike traditional airdrops where "social distribution is often chaotic and inefficient, casting a too-broad net to find a few truly important contributors," the Monad community has a large number of high-contribution members with tightly interwoven social networks, making precise distribution possible, more efficient, and impactful.

This category of distribution targets heavy users on major public chains, with standards including trading activity, NFT holdings, governance participation, etc. Specific coverage includes:
High-frequency trading users on major DEXs
Large deposits in mainstream DeFi protocols
Long-term NFT holders
Recently active participants in Ethereum DeFi protocol governance
The snapshot time is September 30, 2025, at 23:59 UTC, with some metrics calculated retroactively over several months.
Crypto Community
This section targets a broader crypto community, exploring through social graphs and the Monad Cards program. The goal is to find those who truly love Crypto.
While it is impossible to capture everyone, completely eliminate farms and bots, or avoid duplicates, we strive to ensure that those who genuinely care about Crypto become stakeholders in the Monad network.
Among them, Monad Cards is an important component. This program identifies active, engaged, and deep-thinking users on Twitter/X and allows selected individuals to nominate others who were overlooked but also deserve recognition. Recipients from Wave 1, Wave 2, and those who missed out are all included in this airdrop.

All lists are manually selected, focusing on actual results (proof of work) and verifiable attendance.
To avoid ambiguity, the Monad builders in this airdrop do not include team members from the Monad Foundation and Category Labs. We have proactively excluded all identity identifiers related to project team members from the eligible recipient list and explicitly prohibited full-time team members of the Monad Foundation and Category Labs from participating in the receipt of this Monad airdrop token.
