Iranian Speaker Ghalibaf tweeted, listing the cards that Iran and the United States currently hold —
The cards in Iran's hand are mainly on the supply side: the Strait of Hormuz (partially played) + the Strait of Mandeb (not played yet) + oil pipelines/energy infrastructure (not played yet)
The cards in America's hand are mainly on the demand side: strategic stock releases (played) + demand destruction (partially occurred) + higher oil prices continuing to adjust (still to come)
The Speaker believes that the cards America can play on the demand side are dwindling, and most will backfire on themselves, unlike Iran, which can simply close the tap in a straightforward way.
Iran doesn't necessarily need to win a military war; it just needs to drag the conflict into an oil price war.
Ghalibaf also made a sly remark:
The United States is about to enter the summer travel season, and gasoline demand will usually be stronger. Unless the White House dares to tell Americans not to travel by car this year and honestly stay at home to conserve fuel for the energy war.
What a crafty person!
