SEC and Lawyer Request Federal Court to Suspend Binance Case for 60 Days Again

On April 12th, according to Coindesk, the US SEC and Binance lawyers requested that the federal court postpone the SEC and Binance lawsuit for another 60 days. It is reported that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Binance for violating federal securities laws in 2023. In February of this year, after US President Donald Trump was re elected and appointed Commissioner Mark Uyeda as acting chairman, the SEC requested a 60 day suspension of the case, which will expire next Monday. The SEC explained that they have established a newly formed cryptocurrency working group aimed at drafting clearer guidelines on how securities laws apply to digital assets. In Friday's filing, the lawyers involved in the case stated that they requested an additional 60 day suspension due to concerns about how the efforts of the crypto working group may affect the SEC's claims. The document states, "Given these ongoing discussions and the time required for staff to seek committee authorization to approve any solution or change the scope of this lawsuit if necessary, the SEC requires the defendant to agree to extend the current suspension period by 60 days. The defendant agrees that continuing the suspension is appropriate and in the interest of judicial economy
