Ledger scammers are sending postal letters to steal mnemonic words

According to Cointelegraph, there have been recent offline phishing scams targeting Ledger hardware wallet users, where scammers ask victims to verify mnemonic words through postal letters. On April 29th, technology commentator Jacob Canfield exposed a forged "Ledger Security Update Notice" letter on the X platform, which contained a QR code with the brand logo and induced users to enter a 24 word recovery phrase. Ledger's official response immediately emphasized that they will never request mnemonic words in any way. This fraud may be related to the Ledger user data breach in July 2020, when the names, phone numbers, and addresses of over 270000 users were publicly disclosed by hackers. In 2021, there were reports that some users received counterfeit hardware wallets pre installed with malicious software. Expert reminder: Any behavior of requesting mnemonic words is considered fraud, and physical isolation is the core security advantage of hardware wallets.
