That distribution deal for Google is staggering, and both Apple and Google earn an insane amount of money from it. In 2022 Google paid 20B/year to be the default search engine. That's about 20% of their profit (as its one of the few revenue line items with low cost for Apple) On those searches, Google earns around 60B~ in revenue which is 23%~ of its revenue. So if Apple is seeing significantly eroding search traffic in browsers, that is going to hit both of these companies remarkably hard.
