⚠️ Hackers use counterfeit Ledger Live application to steal mnemonic words and steal cryptocurrency According to Cointelegraph, cybersecurity company Moonlock released a report on May 22 stating that hackers are stealing macOS user mnemonics and clearing encrypted assets through a forged Ledger Live app. This malicious software will replace genuine applications in the device and pop up false pop ups to induce users to enter mnemonic words, and then transmit data to the attacker's server. This attack mainly utilized the Atomic macOS Stealer malware, which has infected at least 2800 websites. This program can not only steal passwords, wallet information, and other data, but also implant fake Ledger Live applications. Moonlock discovered that there have been four active attack activities since August 2023, and hacking techniques continue to upgrade. Malicious software advertisements claiming to have "anti Ledger" features even appear on dark web forums, but actual testing shows that the relevant functions are not yet fully developed. Moonlock warns that such attacks directly target users' trust in Ledger Live, and recommends that users only download the app from official channels and do not enter or share mnemonic words on any website. As of press time, Ledger has not commented on this matter.
