Caixin: Guotai Junan International has been granted a VASP license, not a VATP license

Golden Finance reported that according to Caixin, Guotai Junan International's application for approval is for a "Virtual Asset Service Provider" (VASP) license, which upgrades and increases the scope of virtual asset trading on the basis of the original Class 1 license. However, this is not a "Virtual Asset Trading Platform" (VATP) license, and these VASPs still need to be connected to VATP in the future. Senior experts in the cryptocurrency industry point out that VASP is a "virtual asset service provider" and VATP is a "virtual asset trading platform", with significant differences between the two. The former directly participates in the trading and custody of virtual assets and is therefore subject to stricter regulation, especially in terms of security measures, anti money laundering and counter-terrorism financing compliance, and investor protection.
