According to the Wall Street Journal, two senior Republicans in the US Senate announced a plan on Wednesday to allow allies to donate US weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. The PEACE Act proposed by Mississippi Republican Senator Roger Wicker and Idaho Republican Senator Jim Risch outlines for the first time in detail how Trump will use European funds to provide weapons to Kiev. According to Republican aides familiar with the proposal, the bill will establish a fund within the US Treasury Department to receive funding from allies. Subsequently, the Secretary of Defense can use this funding to make payments to contractors to replenish the US weapons inventory, so that the Pentagon can continue to deliver weapons and equipment to Ukraine without weakening the US's own military readiness. These assistants stated that they hope to generate an annual capital flow of approximately $5 billion to $8 billion, with Germany and the UK potentially being the funding parties.
