Tesla obtains Texas ride hailing license, Robotaxi operation goes further

Tesla has obtained a ride hailing license in Texas, paving the way for its autonomous taxi service. Tesla Robotaxi LLC is listed as a licensed transportation network company, alongside Uber, Lyft, and others. According to the new regulations that came into effect on September 1st, autonomous ride hailing services must meet the same regulatory requirements as human drivers. Tesla has previously piloted autonomous ride hailing services in Austin, using the Model Y model equipped with safety monitors.
