P'Nut Squirrel Owner sues New York State for $10 million in compensation for assault and extermination incidents

According to BlockBeats, on August 12th, after receiving an anonymous complaint, the New York State Department of Environmental Protection conducted a five hour raid on Mark Luongo's residence and detained internet celebrity Squirrel Peanut (nicknamed "P'Nut") and his partner Raccoon Fred. The state government subsequently euthanized two animals under the pretext of "testing for rabies". DEC officials claimed that during the raid, "P'Nut" bit through a thick leather glove worn by a law enforcement officer, therefore it was necessary to kill squirrels and raccoons and conduct rabies testing. But the state government later admitted that the test results of both animals were negative and never apologized or returned the pet's body. According to court documents, the deaths of P'Nut and Fred were not due to concerns about rabies, but rather a 'meaningless act of violence' and a 'horrifying display of government abuse of power'. This lawsuit is an addition to the lawsuit filed by Longo and Bittner against 36 officials in Elmira City and at various levels of the state and city on June 27th this year in the Sherman County Superior Court in New York State, and requires a jury trial to claim unspecified compensation amounts. The couple stated that they have suffered emotional trauma and economic losses since losing their star squirrel. According to the lawsuit, "P'Nut" frequently appeared on social media (including OnlyFans).
