METH (street name “Adderall”) and SSRIs are wildly over prescribed. There’s no debate about that. … the real debate is who should scramble their brains with these powerful compounds and under what circumstances. I’ve never seen someone take these and get a good long-term result, and I’ve seen it go sideways and create massive regret. That’s my lived experience. In my mind, they should be the last resort for treating people’s moods. Humans have thrived for millions of years while being sad, distracted or filled with anxiety — why do we need these? It’s becoming increasingly clear that sleep, community, exercise, diet and meditation are equally/more effective modalities — with zero risk! Don’t take medical advice from a podcaster/VC, but you should also question the medical/pharmasuetical complex when they push toward these options. Ask them to show you studies comparing these drugs to diet, exercise, sleep, community and meditation. @RobertKennedyJr please address! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER — jmc(@jason)
