The Ethereum Foundation has established a dedicated AI team, and their core task right now is to promote the implementation of ERC-8004. After taking a look, the main goal of this protocol is to build an Agent identity registry on Ethereum, allowing each Agent to have a unique on-chain identity ID. This ID can be linked to the Agent's contract address, reputation score, associated model, and other information. The intended outcome is that all registered Agents will be verified and trustworthy, with a unified format standard, enabling interaction between different Agents. This is actually quite similar to the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol that Google launched in collaboration with over 50 companies back in April this year. The goal of A2A is also to standardize Agents so that after registration, they can interact with each other. For example, if I’m an HR professional at a company and I create an Agent to automatically screen resumes, and you’re a programmer who creates an Agent to submit resumes, then when my HR Agent screens your resume, if both of our Agents are registered under the A2A protocol, they can directly communicate and interact further.
