[SEC Chair Seeks Minimal Regulation, Proposes Replacing Quarterly Reports with Semi-Annual Reports]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing the Financial Times, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking minimal regulation and plans to expedite the approval of a proposal to eliminate mandatory quarterly reports for companies, a move previously advocated by former President Trump. Trump had earlier called on social media for an end to the requirement for companies to issue quarterly reports. On Monday, SEC Chair Paul Atkins, appointed by Trump, stated that he would consider replacing the current requirement for publicly listed companies to report every three months with semi-annual reports. He emphasized the need to provide minimal yet effective regulation to protect investors. Additionally, the proposed relaxation of regulations for publicly listed companies confirms that the regulatory body intends to further ease restrictions on such companies.
