[Dota 2 Official YouTube Channel Hacked to Promote Solana-Based Meme Coin]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the official Dota 2 YouTube channel was briefly hacked this Wednesday and used to promote a Solana-based meme coin called 'dota 2 coin.' The related livestream was confirmed to be fraudulent content. The hijacked video was titled 'Dota 2 Launch Official Meme Coin | Hurry Up,' and included a token link directing to Pump.fun. Currently, the token's market cap is approximately $5,500, having dropped about 21% since its launch early morning Beijing time on October 16. On-chain data shows that over 98% of the token's supply is controlled by a single wallet. Reddit users first discovered and documented the hacking incident in the r/DotA 2 subreddit, warning others not to click on the associated links. Subsequently, the YouTube channel of PGL, the esports organization responsible for hosting official Dota 2 tournaments, was also hacked and used to broadcast a fake Bitcoin livestream impersonating MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor. Reports indicate that the attack method resembles multiple crypto scams targeting well-known YouTube channels since 2020, where attackers typically use phishing emails disguised as exchanges or brand sponsorships to gain channel access and conduct fake crypto livestreams and token giveaways.
