Alright finally getting the chance to write a tldr of what happened here + strategy moving forward: - Contest is incredibly top heavy as far as prizes are concerned, so my strategy from the beginning was swing for the fences early. Aka if you're 11th - you're essentially last. And in a sense, if you're second - you receive less than 10% of what first does... so like the great Ricky Bobby said - "If you ain't first, you're last". - Each contestant starts w/ 50K seeded, and is seeded w/ another 50K rebuy November 5th. There are also multiple other opportunities to earn margin like reporting bug bounties, and starting November 1st - each SNX will do a vote to reseed an account with less than 1K of margin with an additional 10K. - I was up to 248K of margin in my account from a starting balance of 50K in under 48 hours. I wanted to keep my foot on the gas and force everyone else to have to deviate from their gameplan to be able to catch up... which was where my mistake began. I haven't traded perps actively in a long time. I let the adrenaline push me to lose sleep, which contributed toward deviation from my plan. I had a short from 112K down to 108K that I nailed and swung long into. I opened a 70 BTC long w/ an average entry of 108.4K. The gameplan was to leave that and start to reduce the position size and tp as BTC began to climb. Instead of doing the rational thing in the moment and taking profit - I added more (this is why having the discipline to sleep and stick to your plan matters lol). tldr opened some positions and passed out after an all nighter and came back to those positions being rekt after waking up and the market had a red candle. Had I done nothing and just kept the 70 BTC long without adding, I'd currently be sitting around 360K atm and well in the lead. Don't get greedy. - Gameplan from here is to continue to play aggressively with each rebuy opportunity. In a toploaded game like this, you have to be willing to push the chips in the center of the table if you want to win - and I still believe I can win. If I don't? I don't lose anything. So the gameplan is still all or nothing. I traded over 114M of volume in two and a half days with a starting seeded margin of 50K. That's not easy to do lol. Still plenty of time to make a comeback - so I'll reflect on the lessons learned from the first go and keep having fun with it. Until then - gl and godspeed to everyone else.
