LUTNICK: JAPAN’S 550B U.S. INVESTMENT TO TARGET POWER AND PIPELINES
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Japan’s 550 billion investment in the U.S. will focus on low-risk, national security sectors like power and pipelines.
10–12 Japanese companies in power and shipbuilding are exploring U.S. projects, with the first expected by end of 2025, supplying turbines, transformers, and cooling systems to expand capacity.
Tariffs on Japanese semiconductors and pharmaceuticals will stay at 15%, while visa rules may be eased to bring in foreign workers for factory construction and training.(*Walter Bloomberg)
