[Zuckerberg Appoints Former Head of Metaverse Business to Advance AI Strategy]
Jin10 News, October 28 – According to the Financial Times, Mark Zuckerberg has appointed his longtime deputy Vishal Shah to a key position within Meta Platforms' (META.O) artificial intelligence team. This move is part of a series of executive reshuffles aimed at advancing the company's AI strategy.
The reorganization follows the rushed launch of its AI video service, Vibes—despite Zuckerberg's significant investment in recruiting AI talent over the past few months, the service was quickly surpassed by OpenAI's competing product, Sora.
Shah joined Meta a decade ago, initially overseeing Instagram's product operations. In 2021, he transitioned to lead the creation of the company's virtual online world, the "Metaverse."
According to an internal memo, Meta AI product head Nat Friedman announced that Shah would join his team to lead product management. Shah will report directly to Friedman.
