Microsoft retains intellectual property rights and exclusive rights to the Azure API until AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is achieved. OpenAI can now provide API access to clients in the U.S. government’s national security sector, regardless of the cloud service provider they use. OpenAI is also now able to release open-weight models that meet the necessary capability standards.
