"EIP-8079 Native Rollup" in its ideal state—@puffer_finance UniChain is currently the closest project to this goal, with the most accurate roadmap and the fastest progress. Puffer doesn’t just "solve" the issues mentioned in the article; it’s practically the real-world implementation of this proposal. Other L2s (Arbitrum, OP, Base, etc.) will most likely need to migrate to or become compatible with Puffer’s Based model if they want to follow this path in the future. Current progress of Puffer UniChain (as of November 22, 2025): • Mainnet is live (end of October 2025), currently in the "Stage 1" form of Based Rollup: pre-confirmation + finality provided by L1 validators (no multisig). • Achieved <400ms block time + synchronous composability (sharing sequencer with other Based Rollups). • Waiting for Ethereum’s hard fork to officially launch the EXECUTE precompile (expected in 2026). On the day it goes live, it can be upgraded to a true "Native/Enshrined Rollup," fully aligning with the ultimate form described in @nake13’s article.
