[Etherscan: Ethereum Address Poisoning Attacks Surge by 612% After Fusaka Upgrade]
On March 13, Etherscan revealed that Ethereum address poisoning attacks significantly increased following the Fusaka upgrade. Research shows that approximately 17 million poisoning attempts occurred between July 2022 and June 2024, affecting around 1.3 million users and confirming losses of at least $79.3 million. The Fusaka upgrade, activated on December 3, 2025, reduced transaction fees while also lowering the cost of attacks. Within 90 days after the upgrade, the number of USDT dust transfers rose from 4.2 million to 29.9 million (+612%), and USDC transfers increased from 2.6 million to 14.9 million (+473%). The success rate of a single attack is about 0.01%, but mass transfers still resulted in user losses of $50 million. Attackers lure users into mistakenly copying incorrect addresses by sending small transfers from spoofed addresses.
