According to monitoring by Beating, Amap, a subsidiary of Alibaba, has released the world's first 3D native city world model, ABot-Earth 0.5, fully trained on 3DGS (3D Gaussian Splatting) data, achieving end-to-end generation of city-scale 3D scenes. Users only need to input a satellite image or a piece of text to generate kilometer-scale 3D cities within 10 minutes on a consumer-grade single GPU. The mapping cost is only 1% of traditional oblique photography and LiDAR reconstruction, while generation efficiency is improved by approximately 1,000 times. Compared to the traditional 2D-to-3D distillation path that involves data collection and fitting, ABot-Earth 0.5 directly establishes a native understanding of three-dimensional space, enabling end-to-end generation of natively renderable 3DGS-format assets.
ABot-Earth 0.5 pioneers a compression-generation framework directly targeting 3DGS point clouds, encoding millions of primitive real 3DGS scenes into a compact latent space. Through a sliding window inference mechanism, it intelligently merges overlapping regions, solving challenges like boundary stitching and point cloud disorder in kilometer-scale continuous scene generation. The built-in multi-level detail decoder (LOD) can automatically control depth of field for near and far views. Combined with Amap's cloud rendering engine for dynamic viewpoint slicing and scheduling, it supports smooth roaming of trillion-level point cloud scenes on web platforms.
The generated 3DGS assets can be exported and directly imported into mainstream engines like Unity and Unreal Engine for interactive development. Since it does not rely on high-cost aerial scanning, ABot-Earth 0.5 has already constructed 3D maps covering over 190 countries and regions. It can quickly generate 3D scenes for unmapped areas or disaster emergency sites, providing a lightweight simulation sandbox for embodied intelligence and low-altitude economy applications such as drone obstacle avoidance and navigation. Official beta testing applications are now open at abot-earth.(amap.com). [Original Link]
