Latest data shows that Australians have the highest per capita interest in cryptocurrency globally, with website traffic primarily focused on trading and speculation.

According to data compiled by the crypto division of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, the traffic ratios of the top 30 tokens on the CoinGecko platform (excluding Bitcoin and stablecoins) were analyzed by country.

Australia leads the world with a token-related website traffic ratio of 74.63% per billion population; South Korea follows closely with 73.48%; the United Kingdom ranks third with 62.15%.

Notably, the United States has a token-related website traffic ratio of only 40.73% per billion population, which is significantly low.

The report also points out that cryptocurrency users in developed countries are more inclined towards trading and speculation. In contrast, users in developing countries prefer on-chain activities, a trend reflected in the usage of mobile wallets.

According to Statista, the overall cryptocurrency market in Australia is expected to grow at an annual rate of 19.85%, with total revenue reaching AUD 1.2 billion (USD 780 million) by 2026.

Meanwhile, it is projected that by 2026, the number of cryptocurrency users in Australia will reach 11.16 million, with nearly 41% of Australians participating in cryptocurrency.

A survey conducted by Swyftx shows that 40% of Generation Z and millennial Australians regret not investing in cryptocurrency ten years ago.

According to a Swyftx spokesperson to Cointelegraph, many young investors are looking to allocate high beta assets in their portfolios. Our data indicates that they generally have a good understanding of this asset class.
