The "Year of Mingyue" incident is quite poignant—

At present, it seems that the events are almost true, but the specific truth is unknown!

To some extent, "Ming Dynasty Stories" and the person of Mingyue hold some special significance for me;

My early entrepreneurial partner and I resonated and decided to collaborate because we both read Mingyue's updates on Tianya at the same time;

At that time, I was still in university, and in the blink of an eye, over ten years have passed. Mingyue's rise to fame carries the imprint of the early internet and has left an indelible mark on me. I love history and literature, and Mingyue's fame and substantial manuscript fees opened my eyes to another way of living through the combination of writing and the internet. So, from that time on, I began to intentionally and unintentionally leave my thoughts and learning on the internet, gradually forming a habit that even became a career;

The entrepreneurial partner I mentioned earlier was also inspired and published his masterpiece "A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Financial Freedom from Scratch" on Tianya. It was immensely popular at the time; you cannot imagine the power of the first-generation internet celebrities. Millions of views and hundreds of QQ groups began discussing his entrepreneurial thinking. To this day, you can still find his article in the collection of popular posts on Tianya, and those who discuss his way of thinking are still tirelessly emerging;

Mingyue then became one of the most profitable writers in China and officially entered the middle level of China's power structure a few years ago: bureau level. Although he held a deputy position, he was already among the elite. From being a first-generation internet literature master to becoming the "most outstanding civil servant" in the country, he walked this path;

When I saw the news of his promotion to deputy bureau chief, a few of us brothers were having tea together, including the early entrepreneurial partner I mentioned. He gave a conclusion at that time that I didn't quite understand, but it has now been proven true. He said: "The fame, fortune, and wealth that Mingyue has now, if he continues down this path, may eventually backfire on him at some stage. This is not the life he wants. If a person lives a life they do not desire, no matter how glorious it appears to outsiders, it is ultimately a life of suffering."

Looking back now, this statement is too classic;

To write history in such an interesting and profound way, how broad must one's inner world be? To see history so clearly, one must also have a kind heart; in the concluding part of "Ming Dynasty Stories," a lot is written about Xu Xiake. I remember once when Mingyue was interviewed and asked why he spent so much ink writing about Xu Xiake, he said: "The reason I write about Xu Xiake is to tell you that a hundred years of fame, a thousand years of hegemony, and eternal glory are nothing compared to one thing, and that is—spending your life in a way you love."

When I saw this, I was quite moved, treating it as a guiding principle, even feeling a bit emotional. This is my confidence in saying: nobles and commoners are just like this; I understand that the most important thing in our lives is to pursue inner happiness, followed by physical health, while making money or gaining fame ranks at most third.

It was after reading this book that I actively sought out many works related to Xu Xiake, which provided me with many precious qualities and a resilient heart;

I never expected that the person who taught me this principle would now face such a crisis; the truth is unknown to us, but I can close my eyes and imagine his painful appearance and tormented soul. Mingyue is clearly not happy!

Clearly, he could be Xu Xiake and yearn to be Xu Xiake; why did he choose to be Yang Jinshui instead? He may have his own way of thinking that we cannot comprehend, and naturally, we cannot judge, but I still want to say—

How much is life worth? Life is short; we must find a way of living that suits us. It's okay to be poor; we must strive to pursue the happiness deep within our hearts and follow our inner selves, or the backlash will come fiercely!

Finally, I will conclude my ramblings today with a passage from Mingyue's closing remarks in "Ming Dynasty Stories":

Now I tell you, learning from history is impossible. Because I find that history has not changed; technology has changed, clothing has changed, diet has changed—these are all exteriors. Inside, nothing has changed; it is still the same as thousands of years ago. The same mistakes will still be made, and the same people will still be killed. Yue Fei will die, Yuan Chonghuan will die, and a thousand years from now, they will still die.

Everything that happens is because there is a reason for it to happen. Only those who can transcend history can truly learn from it. However, we ultimately cannot transcend because of our own desires and weaknesses.

All the mistakes we know, yet we cannot change them. What can be changed is called a flaw; what cannot be changed is called a weakness. By the way, there are indeed people who can transcend history; we call such people sages.

Those who can understand the above words will understand; those who cannot, just take it as nonsense.
