Be a Bad Person! Say Some Bad Words
Actually, I've wanted to say this for a whole day, but I haven't had the courage to do so. After all, everyone's mood is pretty good right now, and it feels inappropriate for me to add to the frustration. But I really think I should say something. Yes, it's about the "bad words" regarding Kaito.
As a beneficiary, everyone knows I love to reply, and being @ mentioned has increased my exposure and brought me more traffic, so I should be thankful to Kaito. But why do I want to say something negative about it? Because I feel that my sharing with some friends has become somewhat distorted.
Before Kaito, the things we wrote were about market hotspots or topics we were good at. Whether long articles or short ones, they had our own perspectives, aiming to let more friends understand the market trends through our tweets. But with Kaito's recent popularity, I haven't even had the motivation to scroll through Twitter in the past two days. Those who used to post yellow pictures are now posting about Kaito, those who used to share jokes are now posting about Kaito, and those who used to analyze are still posting about Kaito.
But what can Kaito give us?
First: A globally influential ranking. Well, it looks cool, but do we really follow the top-ranked people? Do we know what content they are posting? What are they talking about every day?
On the contrary, almost none of the people in my "bell" list are at the top of the rankings. Are these people not good? Definitely not. Bloomberg's @JSeyff and @EricBalchunas are the ones providing us with the most cutting-edge ETF information and data, and they are not at the front of the list.
The newly appointed chair of the digital committee, @SenLummis, brings us the latest developments in #Bitcoin strategic reserves, and she is also not at the front of the list.
My personal favorites, the Bitwise Four Swordsmen @singularity7x @HHorsley @dgt10011 @Andre_Dragosch, are not at the front of the list either, and even Coindesk's analyst @btcjvs is not at the front.
Not to mention my consulting frontier @solidintelx and the Fed's mouthpiece @NickTimiraos, along with a whole bunch of macro, economic, and political analysts like @profplum99 @MetaLawMan @sowmayjain, who are almost invisible.
So I started to reflect: is it the ranking that helps me improve, or is it the benefit to my friends that helps me improve? Clearly, it's the latter. Kaito is just a community platform that can serve as a supplement, but it shouldn't be my (just my own, not representing anyone else) everything. What I write is not for a higher ranking, but to help more friends.
Second: The benefits of voting or bribery. Well, this is indeed tempting, but how much are these benefits really worth, and how long will they last? I don't know. The first round of voting is only a few hours away from closing. I don't know what will happen if the voting is successful, and I don't know what the projects that get voted on will achieve. After voting, can I really earn a vote? Forget about $188; can I even earn $8.8? I still don't know.
But what I do know is that Kaito is the beneficiary. I (just myself, not representing anyone else) feel like a mule chasing a carrot ahead, desperately trying to study their rules to score a few more points.
Of course, I don't deserve to set up a monument. If Kaito could bring me significant benefits, I might still allocate some energy to manage it, after all, who would turn down money? But if the benefits are just so-so, then why should I flatter it? After all, Kaito is just a project.
This tweet doesn't conform to the mainstream, and many friends might feel embarrassed to criticize me out of courtesy. It's really okay; I just want to express my thoughts. I still only represent myself. I just feel that Kaito's emergence has led me a bit astray, which doesn't mean I'm right. In fact, the best approach is to post what I find meaningful while also earning Kaito points, rather than specifically trying to score points for the sake of it. That would be the mark of a true expert.
I don't deserve it, so I will return to normal, posting things I'm interested in that might help everyone. As for whether I can earn more points on Kaito, let it be.
