If Arbitrum is the white lotus of yield farmers, not many would disagree.
Many yield farmers made their first pot of gold through the ARB airdrop, and even more were inspired by ARB to embark on the irreversible path of yield farming. To this day, whenever there is a project that goes against the trend, everyone fondly remembers ARB.
In the current era of L2 proliferation, many might say that ARB is outdated, favoring new projects over old ones. However, this is not the case; looking at all Ethereum L2s, ARB is the most diligent one, continuously optimizing the network while also focusing on ecological development, forming a stark contrast with those ghost chains.
It is said that Arb will have many significant moves in 2025, and it’s a good time to lay the groundwork while no one is FOMOing in, as opportunities always favor the prepared. Here are two dynamics/trends that I believe are very important for reference:
1. Mainnet implements BoLD protocol, achieving "permissionless verification"
A few days ago, the BoLD protocol was officially activated on the Arbitrum One and Nova chains, allowing for "permissionless verification" on its Layer 2 ecosystem, thereby enhancing the network's decentralization and security.
In simple terms, the original verification process was permission-based, making the entire process very complex, sacrificing decentralization to some extent, and posing risks of delayed attacks. The BoLD protocol improves this by introducing an interactive, time-limited dispute resolution mechanism, opening participation to anyone interested in network security through a permissionless mechanism.
In other words, the launch of BoLD makes the Arbitrum ecosystem safer and more decentralized than ever, while helping Arbitrum achieve four out of the five conditions for Stage 2 decentralization, making it the closest to the Stage 2 decentralization goal among all Ethereum L2 chains.
2. Focusing on the AI track, creating the "DeFAI home"
In the past two months, DeepSeek has exploded in popularity, and the global AI industry is surging, making it the biggest trend for 2025, which has also filled the industry with expectations for AI×Crypto.
The Arb officials have clearly recognized this opportunity, frequently pushing the AI ecosystem in recent months, such as investing $1 million to launch the Trailblazer program, specifically to fund AI builders on Arbitrum: https://arbitrumfoundation.medium.com/trailblazer-1m-grants-to-power-ai-innovation-on-arbitrum-c6de1200e656
Additionally, the officials have organized AI-themed Spaces, compiled an AI collection for the Arbitrum ecosystem, and even stated that "Arbitrum = DeFAI home." It is clear to the discerning that Arb's main focus this year is on the AI track.
A key reminder is that AI projects that have received official endorsement and have not issued tokens include Axal, Capx, Aikaverse, Lit, Spheron, and Skynet, among which Spheron has a whitelist, CapX is running an incentive testnet, and Skynet may soon launch an incentive testnet as well.
