Some things I think are good
The principle is "everything that can be bought with money is cheap" — money cannot buy time or health.
- Mineral Water and Olive Oil
Buy mineral water locally or from JD, it doesn't cost much more, but the national standard for water is completely different from purified water or tap water; water is the source of life. It is also used for cooking.
Use olive oil or tea oil; the prices are 5-3 times that of regular corn oil, but this actually allows the family to cook with less oil — double the health.
Additionally, I love Hunan and Sichuan cuisine, but I have to say that stir-frying and deep-frying are indeed not as healthy as steaming or boiling, but perhaps using oil with a higher smoke point can balance this.
- Vegetables and Fruits
I used to think that some apples cost 30 each while others cost 30 for a bunch — the latter should also have very good options, but overall, fruits and vegetables, especially vegetables, have issues like cucumbers that can grow a few centimeters after being left in the fridge overnight; this is a big problem that needs attention.
For example, avoid buying certain high-tech and high-effort items; I won't list specific varieties to avoid affecting everyone's mood — the list is a bit long, so you can search and learn on Douyin or Xiaohongshu.
You can also consider Sam's Club, Pang Donglai, etc., as they have their own higher testing standards. Don't be fooled by people waving big flags; your health is our top priority — buying more expensive but healthier items is valuable.
- Electronic/Home Products
MacBook + iPhone + Apple Monitor, seamless connection. At first, I wasn't used to it, but once I got used to it, I found I couldn't go back…
If you have a Windows PC and need to switch, consider the Dell UltraSharp U3224KB, which has built-in signal switching, allowing you to connect both a Windows PC and a MacBook with one set of keyboard and mouse; the picture quality is excellent (comparable to the Pro Display I bought for tens of thousands, and even more eye-friendly).
Regarding chairs, @ohyishi mentioned them; they are expensive, but I use this one. Personally, I must buy a matching headrest from Xianyu; just search for it.
For height-adjustable desks, just pick one from JD; I prefer a larger size.
Sports slippers: the sole of sports shoes with the convenience of slippers, very suitable for me.
Comfortable clothes: there are many options here; I personally like to buy several pieces in the same color and style, saving time on thinking about what to wear. ^^
Apple Watch, monitors stress, exercise, sleep quality, etc.
Speakers, choose a good one based on price; slightly more expensive options like Edifier or HiVi are good, but don't choose something too niche. For example, I have a 20,000 yuan one, but I can't tell the difference — the benefit of being frugal is saving money.
Additionally, I think there's no need to buy a big TV at home, nor is it necessary to set up a regular living room. Instead, it would be better to transform it into a large solid wood table in the living room, with bookshelves on both sides, and the middle used for family study and communication.
A large TV can be replaced with a top-mounted projector, making it convenient for the family to watch a movie together, enhancing relationships.
- Cars
There's not much to say here; buy what you want. If you can't afford it, go to the store to experience it first, then go home, practice hard, and one day buy it as casually as buying groceries.
- Others
Tea, there's an old shop in Hong Kong called Fuming Tang; everyone should visit when in Hong Kong. They have a type of tea that costs over 200, which contains small Pu'er tea cakes the size of coins, about twenty or thirty of them. You can brew one each time, which is convenient and tastes good — I also bought a bunch of others costing hundreds to thousands, but in the end, I still found this to be my favorite.
Skip this if you don't like tea.
I've tried many health supplements, and my favorite is one called calcium, magnesium, and zinc, which costs around 300 a bottle; it's simple and effective, making me feel much better. I bought some others and took them randomly, but nothing special.
Writing this, I realize that I don't have many points of focus or things I pay attention to in life; I'm just a real rough guy, merely throwing out some ideas. If anyone has good suggestions, I'm open to criticism and education.
