BITWU Ten-Year Content Practice Deep Summary: The Three Most Important Things About IP -
Are you a creator of gods or a worshiper of gods? Written for those who are building their IP!
Building an IP is the most certain long-term investment of this era.
It is not a traffic game, but a process of turning "cognition into assets."
A few days ago, I discussed some views on "personal IP" with @Foresight_News, but due to time and format constraints, many core ideas were not elaborated on, and we couldn't discuss them thoroughly on-site;
So today, I decided to write a serious piece, summarizing my nearly ten years of experience in content creation in Web2 and Web3 in a more systematic way—
If you are thinking about how to build your own influence, cognitive barriers, and long-term trust, I hope you will read this article.
What I say may not be "suitable for everyone," but it is certainly "suitable for most situations." These are heartfelt words and conclusions drawn from my personal experiences.
1️⃣ First, you need to find your original intention—
Why do we engage in building a brand?
I believe that if you cannot clarify this, you cannot truly build your own IP;
You might say it’s to make money, but let me rephrase the question:
If you are already financially free, why would you create an account?
Think in this direction;
Essentially, you need to dig out your true passion + inner needs and align them with action, and through this endeavor, you can go further and broader;
For example, my brand-building over the past decade has mainly focused on two directions: one is to help me think deeply, and the other is to help me build long-term trust;
I believe both points are equally important. If you do not think deeply, you will encounter many problems. The accumulation of wealth requires you to continuously update and iterate your thinking methods, and paying attention to the market and writing about it is a great way to maintain connection and parallel thinking. I practice the Feynman learning method, so this is particularly important to me;
Secondly, building long-term trust is a huge engine that can bring you immense wealth:
I don’t know how you understand this statement, but over the past ten years, from WeChat public accounts to Weibo to Twitter, many miraculous things have happened. For example, a large fund user suddenly finds you with a specific request, or a friend loses their wallet password and needs your help to recover it. Behind these occurrences is the effect of others seeing my consistent brand-building over the years, and when these things happen once, wealth can increase significantly;
Last year, I wrote about helping a fan recover over a thousand bitcoins. If there wasn’t absolute trust, would the other party give you their hardware wallet? At that moment, trust is worth its weight in gold! So do you understand what I mean?
Making money is certainly important, but the real way to make big money is like the story of planting willows unintentionally or the tale of Jiang Taigong fishing, rather than spending your brand on a daily 400U advertisement!
Now, let me ask again: Why do you want to build your own brand!?
2️⃣ Next, let’s talk about the core of building a personal IP—
After discussing your original intention for building a brand, let’s talk about what I believe is the core:
Finding your way to communicate with the market!
You need to understand who "you" really are. What advantages, insights, and experiences do you have that others do not? What is your tone of voice? Are you better at discussing mechanisms, emotions, or trends?
The essence of content IP is not a label, but a personalized expression. Only by first finding out "who you are" can you possibly find "who will listen to you."
This approach may be slow, but it is easier to establish deep trust. The more structured, firm, and powerful your speech is, the easier it is to become "someone who is remembered for a long time."
Another particularly important point is the scarcity and explanatory power of content topics.
Not everyone can explain complex mechanisms, nor can everyone predict trends. The clearer you can articulate what others cannot, the higher your value becomes.
Moreover, many times, what truly moves people is not how cool the viewpoint is, but that you have really "explained something that others find confusing."
In summary: IP is a process of repeatedly confirming "who you are" and continuously optimizing "how you speak."
3️⃣ Deeply understand what "gods" and "creating gods" mean
Does building an IP require a certain amount of marketing?
Definitely;
So I ask you to understand a statement and watch a movie:
This statement was made by a small lawyer from Shanghai on Weibo:
There are indeed distinctions between high and low people; a person's life is a worship of the gods, where high people are the creators of gods, and low people worship the gods they create. This is the "leek technique";
In the field of IP building, this is not about "background," but about the initiative in cognition and expression.
High people are those who have the ability to construct cognition, refine viewpoints, and influence others; low people are those who only consume information, passively accept others' viewpoints, and follow the market.
"A person's life is a worship of the gods"
In the content field, this means: everyone seeks faith and authority.
Who do you believe? Whose content do you share? Who do you listen to for investment advice? This is "worship," where you devote your attention and trust to others.
Building a personal IP is about making you the "object of worship"—
Becoming someone others are willing to trust, share, and follow.
"High people are the creators of gods, and low people worship the gods they create"
To put it more bluntly: high people hold the narrative power, while low people live in others' narratives.
Once you possess this influence, you are no longer just a "content creator"; you are someone who can construct narrative spaces. This is the ultimate form of IP.
"This is the leek technique"
This phrase is actually ironic, but it reveals a harsh reality: if you do not build your IP, you will ultimately live under someone else's IP.
In a market of information explosion and traffic-first mentality, those who can create faith can harvest cognitive dividends.
So, you need to be a "creator of gods," not a "worshiper of gods."
I recommend a movie for you to watch: "Mahjong." Why do I recommend it? Check out this tweet of mine:

Building an IP is the process of transforming from passively "believing others" to becoming someone "others believe."
