The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on April 16 the agenda and panelists for its upcoming crypto custody roundtable, part of its ongoing initiative to address digital asset regulation.

The third session in the series, titled “Know Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody,” will take place on April 25 at the SEC’s headquarters in Washington D.C. This session is part of the agency’s “Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity,” a five-part public roundtable series launched by the SEC’s Crypto Task Force. Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, who leads the task force, stated:

It is important for the SEC to grapple with custody issues, which are some of the most challenging as we seek to integrate crypto assets into our regulatory structure. We look forward to hearing from experts on these important issues.

The April 25 roundtable will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., beginning with remarks from Acting SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda, Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, Commissioner Peirce, and Crypto Task Force Chief of Staff Richard Gabbert. The event includes two panels, both moderated by Zach Zweihorn of Davis Polk & Wardell LLP. The first will feature representatives from Fireblocks, Anchorage Digital Bank, Fidelity Digital Asset Services, Kraken, Exodus Movement, Etana Custody, and Copper Technologies. A second panel will bring together legal experts, investment professionals, and academics, including Georgetown University Law Center’s Adam Levitin and University of Pennsylvania’s Charles Mooney.

The SEC’s crypto roundtable series began with a March 21 session focused on the definition of digital asset securities. A second roundtable held on April 11 explored regulatory issues facing crypto trading platforms. The April 25 discussion will address the safe storage and protection of crypto assets, with a final two events scheduled for May 12 and June 6.

The May session will examine tokenization and how decentralized technologies intersect with traditional finance. The June 6 roundtable, titled “DeFi and the American Spirit,” will explore decentralized finance and its compatibility with core American values. All sessions are open to the public and will be streamed live on the SEC website, with in-person attendance available by registration.
