My weight has dropped again. Any sport that cannot be played on a mobile phone for a long time can easily reach a flow state, which can also be described as a meditative state. This is very beneficial for the body (cycling, hiking, skiing, etc.).
In the past, my brokerage mentor told me how to identify a good fund manager at a roadshow. He mentioned a very simple theory: look at their physique. If the captain of a fund cannot even manage their own body, how can you expect them to manage your assets well?
In the investment industry, I have seen many talented individuals, but the truly top-tier ones share a common trait—they have excellent physical condition, stable mental state, and strict time management.
You might think that is the "lifestyle" of investors. But I prefer to say that it is a subtle means of controlling their lives.
My former employer, Yi Zheng, the boss of Tonghuashun, is such a person. He works out every day, has a regular lifestyle, and his diet is precise to the gram, yet he is still a diamond bachelor. He once said something that left a deep impression on me:
"Discipline is not about dieting; it is about preventing my choices from being hijacked by emotions."
If you think about it carefully, isn't this the same principle we apply in investing and strategizing?
A person with stable emotions can see trends clearly.
A person with a strong body can withstand market fluctuations.
A person who manages their time well can seize opportunities.
