Bitwise Asset Management CEO Hunter Horsley shared his expectation on social media platform X on June 10 that once bitcoin surpasses the $130,000-$150,000 mark, selling pressure will significantly diminish, leading to a perpetual upward trajectory for the cryptocurrency. Horsley boldly states:

I think once bitcoin breaks through eg $130K-150K, no one is going to sell their bitcoin.

The Bitwise executive explained that at the current BTC price level of $100,000, long-term holders who acquired bitcoin at extremely low prices are taking profits. However, he predicts this selling will “peter off” as bitcoin establishes new price highs. His core argument rests on the idea that at these elevated levels, holders will increasingly opt to borrow against their bitcoin holdings for liquidity rather than selling their BTC outright.

“From there on, when people need liquidity, they are going to borrow from an ever-growing set of lenders,” he wrote. This trend, he suggests, will be facilitated by a burgeoning ecosystem of crypto lenders.

The market’s implication is a dwindling supply of bitcoin available for purchase. As more capital flows into the system and holders prefer borrowing over selling, the demand-supply imbalance would, in theory, “further propel price,” the Bitwise executive wrote, emphasizing:

There’s simply not going to be enough bitcoin.

Horsley’s vision paints a future where bitcoin transforms from a speculative asset into a cornerstone of a new financial system, where its primary utility for many will be as collateral, not as a currency to be spent or sold. This perspective suggests a fundamental shift in market dynamics, potentially leading to an even more extreme price appreciation driven by an ever-tightening supply.
