On June 24, Guotai Haitong Group's subsidiary, Guotai Junan International Holdings Limited ("Guotai Junan International" or "the Company", stock code: 1788.HK), officially received approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (hereinafter referred to as "Hong Kong SFC") to upgrade its existing securities trading license to provide virtual asset trading services, as well as to offer advice based on the provision of virtual asset trading services. Following this license upgrade, customers will be able to directly trade cryptocurrencies (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.), stablecoins (such as Tether, etc.), and other virtual assets on the Guotai Junan International platform.

Thus, Guotai Junan International has become the first Hong Kong-based Chinese brokerage to provide comprehensive virtual asset-related trading services, covering the provision of virtual asset trading services, offering advice during the virtual asset trading service process, and issuing and distributing virtual asset-related products, including over-the-counter derivatives.

Guotai Junan International keeps pace with the times, continuously launching innovative products and services, leading the development of digital finance and virtual asset business. In 2024, the company will be the first in the Hong Kong market to launch structured products based on virtual asset spot ETFs and has obtained permission from the Hong Kong SFC to conduct virtual asset trading platform introduction agent business. In the first half of 2025, the company will continue its efforts, receiving confirmation from the Hong Kong SFC to distribute tokenized securities to clients or provide advice on tokenized securities, and will initiate digital bond issuance business. On June 24, the company reached another milestone by successfully obtaining the qualification to provide virtual asset trading services, further enhancing the service ecosystem in this field, with the development of virtual asset-related business gaining momentum.

In February 2025, the Hong Kong SFC released the "A-S-P-I-Re" roadmap for virtual asset market regulation, outlining the development direction for Hong Kong's virtual asset ecosystem.
