Legal Progress on Digital Assets
Vietnam has recently advanced its digital asset regulation, highlighting the government's commitment to a clear legal framework that supports industry growth. In October 2024, the government announced the "National Strategy for Blockchain Technology Development," set to be implemented in 2025. This roadmap outlines the goals of strengthening domestic infrastructure and positioning Vietnam as a regional leader in blockchain adoption.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly has begun reviewing the "Digital Technology Industry Law," which introduces key legal definitions for digital assets and proposes pilot projects for digital asset exchanges in major financial centers such as Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Additionally, the government has issued directives to complete a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets (including virtual assets and service providers) by May 2025.
