According to court documents, Sims, a founder and promoter of Omegapro, and Reynoso, who led operations in Latin America and parts of the U.S., misled victims with false promises of substantial returns and the safety of their investments. The indictment alleges that the defendants operated a multi-level marketing scheme, encouraging investors to purchase “investment packages” with the promise of 300% returns through foreign exchange trading. They hosted lavish promotional events worldwide to project Omegapro as a legitimate enterprise, while using social media to showcase their wealth. Following a reported network hack, victims were told their investments were secure, but they were unable to withdraw funds, resulting in significant losses. Both defendants face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for each count if convicted.
