MEXC Reports Blocks 70,000+ Crypto Fraud Attempts in Q2 2025

As the crypto world grapples with a surge in AI-powered fraud — rising 456% between May 2024 and April 2025 according to TRM Labs — MEXC Reports has emerged as a case study in effective countermeasures. The exchange today published its Q2 2025 Risk Control Summary, revealing that fraud attempts organized by criminal syndicates dropped by 12% quarter-over-quarter, thanks to bolstered risk controls and regional interventions.

Globally, fraud is escalating: in major cities like New York, scammers are using deepfakes and AI-generated voices to dupe victims. At the same time, total losses across hacks and scams have already exceeded $2.47 billion in H1 2025. Against this backdrop, systems thwarted 70,621 fraudulent attempts tied to 8,501 unique syndicates during April to June. That outpaces many industry peers in terms of detection scale and speed of response.

MEXC's risk team emphasized that the real threat is not just volume — it’s the speed and coordination of scams. The exchange’s newly deployed AI models enable real-time detection, flagging suspicious login patterns, trade anomalies and manipulative behaviors like spoofing or wash trading with minimal disruption to legitimate users.

The exchange targeted historically high-risk regions with differentiated strategies. In South Asia (India and Pakistan), declined by 41% due to educational campaigns and faster response protocols. Southeast Asia, after spiking more than 1,300% in Q1, saw growth slow to 11% in Q2, with Indonesia remaining the most affected crypto market (accounting for 73% of regional cases, up 18%). Fraud in the CIS region also rose 83%, still better than the prior quarter’s steeper climb.

Meanwhile, global observers are sounding the alarm as total crypto losses continue to accumulate. According to CertiK, phishing and wallet exploits made up the lion’s share of the over $2.47 billion lost in early 2025. TRM Labs that scammers are now leveraging AI to make scams more persuasive, while law enforcement in New York and other major cities battle a wave of targeting ethnic and investor communities.
