WNBA Court "Adult Toy Airstrike" Incident: 2 Arrested for Prank Involving Cryptocurrency Memecoin

According to reports, two men were arrested for allegedly throwing sex toys during a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) game, a controversial act that has been publicly claimed by a meme coin group.

In the past two weeks, there have been five incidents of sex toys being thrown onto the court during WNBA games, with the most recent incident occurring in Chicago, where the thrown sex toys were primarily green.

A spokesperson for the recently launched Green Dildo Coin (DILDO) meme coin group, Daldo Raine, stated on social media platform X that he and other cryptocurrency enthusiasts orchestrated the event.

This act has drawn strong criticism from WNBA players and coaches. The meme coin culture itself is highly controversial and has a limited audience, and the group is attempting to attract attention in various ways during a market downturn to make their project stand out.

Daldo Raine claimed that the creation of the token aims to protest what he perceives as a toxic environment dominated by opinion leaders and fraudsters in a lighthearted manner.

"We know that if we want to make a statement in this field… we have to do something viral instead of paying those opinion leader alliances," he said, adding that the team hopes to change the culture of the crypto industry through a "thousand against one" approach.

He mentioned that the team adopted a green design as a tribute to the green candlesticks seen during cryptocurrency market upswings and to attract the attention of onlookers.

He also stated that the meme coin group would shift to more lighthearted and "tasteful" pranks to continue gaining attention.

The two men, Kaden Lopez and Delbert Carver, were arrested for allegedly participating in the throwing of sex toys; however, Daldo Raine told USA Today that the two are not members of the meme coin team.

FOX 10 Phoenix reported on Wednesday, citing court documents, that 18-year-old Lopez told police he bought sex toys and participated after seeing the trend on social media.

USA Today reported that Carver was arrested on Saturday in Georgia, with law enforcement accusing him of throwing sex toys onto the court during a basketball game in Atlanta.

He is reportedly facing charges of disturbing the peace, public indecency, and trespassing.

These actions have been met with strong criticism from WNBA players and coaches, who believe such behavior poses safety risks and shows a lack of respect for the game.

"That's ridiculous, stupid, and ignorant," said Lynne Roberts, head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks, after the incident occurred at the Crypto.com Arena.

According to the WNBA's code of conduct page, any fan found throwing objects onto the court will be ejected and may face criminal charges.

Reports indicate that Daldo Raine laughed off claims that the behavior disrespects female athletes, although some argue that the act carries misogynistic undertones.

Similar pranks have occurred at other sporting events, including a 2018 NFL game between the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills, where sex toys were thrown into the end zone.

According to CoinMarketCap data, the current market capitalization of the meme coin market is $70.6 billion, down nearly 45% from its peak of $127.26 billion reached on December 6.

The largest issuance platform for meme coins, Pump.fun, has seen its platform revenue drop 80% from its peak in January, with only $24.96 million in July, marking the lowest during that period.
