Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025 (MYBW) successfully concluded its second edition, receiving enthusiastic responses. Hosted by Lydian Labs, the event had a packed schedule, attracting 6,834 attendees from 92 countries, with 20% being international visitors who came specifically to learn about Malaysia's exploration in the Web3 space.

The event was held on July 21-22 at the World Trade Centre KL, featuring 170 speakers, 68 sponsors, and over 90 side events—from keynote speeches and panel discussions to exhibitions and launches, as well as business networking, private dinners, and even a casual pickleball friendly match—providing a unique immersive and interactive experience for the audience, partners, and sponsors.

“This is not just another gathering. It is a clear signal: Malaysia is ready to lead the way. The foundation has been laid, and now is the time to move forward with a sense of mission. The moment for action is now. Let us boldly build, innovate fearlessly, and shape the future together.”

When Public Policy Resonates with Private Support

MYBW witnessed deep interaction between the public and private sectors. Government departments, including the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Digital, looked forward to Malaysia's bright prospects in the Web3 industry and engaged in substantive discussions about becoming a regional industry leader.

MOSTI is committed to making Malaysia a regional digital hub for blockchain technology, aligning with its ministerial strategic goals, and further solidifying Malaysia's reputation as one of Southeast Asia's most promising blockchain and Web3 hubs, showcasing its commitment to fostering an open and forward-looking digital economy. This goal was advanced with the official launch of the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI) during MYBW2025.

“This is the essence of Malaysia's MADANI vision: where innovation meets compassion, progress is guided by trust, and technology benefits all levels of society. The relevance of blockchain in areas such as finance, supply chain, halal traceability, and public services is increasingly rising.” —YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)

Digital Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo also attended the blockchain industry roundtable to discuss the unprecedented opportunities blockchain brings to the nation. In a closed-door meeting, the minister engaged with industry giants and thought leaders to deepen the understanding of strategic pathways that can make Malaysia stand out.

“I emphasize the need to truly understand the opportunities ahead for the blockchain industry in this region, as well as the challenges that must be addressed to create an environment conducive to growth, innovation, and investment.” —YB Gobind Singh Deo, Digital Minister

This roundtable established a milestone coordinate for Malaysia's future direction in blockchain technology, discussing key points such as potential action plans in the near term. The government is committed to formulating and implementing appropriate policies and strategies that complement the existing ecosystem over the next five years, propelling Malaysia to the forefront of the global blockchain revolution—demonstrating that the Malaysian government also sees the limitless potential of this thriving industry.

From Malaysia to the World

Global Web3 leaders—including IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener, Nansen.ai CEO Alex Svanevik, Coinbase APAC International Policy Director Katie Mitchell, Bitget CEO Gracy Chen, and Wintermute co-founder Yoann Turpin—shared the stage with Malaysia's top innovators, providing exclusive insights on decentralized infrastructure, crypto application adoption, AI and blockchain synergy, and the evolution of regulatory landscapes, offering attendees a multidimensional interpretation from both international and local perspectives.

As Malaysia's position in the global blockchain landscape continues to strengthen, MYBW continues to act as a catalyst for cross-border collaboration, startup acceleration, and policy synergy. The highly positive feedback from attendees (including developers, founders, students, and investors) marks a strong momentum for Malaysia's digital future.

“With the conclusion of MYBW 2025, we hope this casts a brighter light on Malaysia and all that it has to offer—not just as a host, but as a launchpad. From this, we expect to see more businesses grow, overseas companies and talent move to Malaysia, and importantly, substantial progress in regulatory and innovation pathways in the crypto space.” —Dr. Ian Tan, Co-founder of Lydian Labs
