The practice of witchcraft, once punishable by death through burning or being pushed off cliffs, has now become a hot topic on TikTok.
The online marketplace Etsy allows people to sell handmade hats and custom dog collars, and although it prohibits "metaphysical services," it has still become a gathering place for spellcasters.
Cointelegraph discovered a product listing offering custom cryptocurrency spells. The spell includes a wealth attraction ritual that combines spiritual energy adjustments and is associated with personal cryptocurrency investments and asset portfolios.
"Are you ready to elevate your cryptocurrency assets and attract a continuous flow of wealth? This custom cryptocurrency spell is designed to attract money, enhance energy, and align your trading success with the flow of wealth," the product description states.
The seller offers a basic spell for $20. For greater returns, buyers "need" to spend up to $42 for a premium spell or $73 for a cryptocurrency "millionaire spell."
The related details are somewhat vague. According to the seller's description, they will assist buyers in achieving wealth attraction related to financial goals and align personal energy with the "flow of wealth in the cryptocurrency market."
The seller did not mention a specific timeframe and included a disclaimer at the bottom: "All interpretations are for spiritual guidance and entertainment purposes only; results are not guaranteed."
Not limited to witchcraft, there are also many sellers on Etsy offering services like "Bitcoin divination cards," which customers can use to predict the future. These cards are said to combine "magic, love," and "cryptocurrency spirit."
Another service, the "Dogecoin Wealth Ritual," is described with little explanation but seems to involve the seller creating a spell-casting atmosphere with items like candles and crystals in a video, along with downloadable images featuring positive affirmations.
This trend has also caught the attention of the cryptocurrency community, with some groups quickly mocking it.
On Thursday, in a post on the r/Bitcoin community, a user named "spacticity" claimed they "paid to have an Etsy witch" cast a spell to ensure Bitcoin (BTC) reaches $200,000 by January 2027.
"I also told her that it’s fine if Bitcoin goes higher before that, but the spell must make Bitcoin rise. She lit a candle and used some moon water or something; I’m not sure of the specifics," the user wrote, adding:
"This is absolutely reliable, foolproof, and will never fail, so make sure to buy now."
These unique products are just part of a broader trend on the Etsy platform. There are numerous witches and wizards offering a variety of spell services, from wealth attraction to weather and love luck.
Some newly registered witch accounts have low sales, while those that have been operating for longer have completed thousands of transactions, with feedback ratings between 4.5 and 5 stars.
An account named "NaturalisticBlessing," which offers services like palm reading in addition to spells, has been operating on Etsy for four years and has sold up to 120,000 items, with individual product prices generally around $18.
