The Colosseum "Cypherpunk" hackathon is an online competition aimed at providing a competitive platform for the next generation of developers on the Solana network. Participants can register to compete for a total prize pool of $510,000, $250,000 in early investment, and a 1:1 incubation qualification from the Colosseum accelerator.

The Solana Foundation has announced the launch of the "Cypherpunk" hackathon and has opened registration on the Colosseum platform. As the twelfth hackathon hosted by the Solana Foundation, "Cypherpunk" is an online competition designed to provide a competitive platform for the next generation of developers on the Solana network. This hackathon is currently ongoing and will last until October 30.

Participants in the "Cypherpunk" hackathon can use the Colosseum online platform to create developer profiles, find teammates, exchange new ideas, learn about the competition tracks, and register to compete for over $500,000 in total prizes, $250,000 in early investment, and a 1:1 incubation qualification from the Colosseum accelerator. Contestants can receive up to $30,000 in individual rewards and special bonuses.

Over the past year, the Solana network has gained momentum due to the relentless innovation of developers within its ecosystem. These innovators have transformed the Solana network into a preferred platform in areas such as DeFi, RWA, consumer applications, stablecoins, social applications, and DePIN. From enabling merchants to accept USDC payments with near-instant settlement and low fees to a series of new applications emerging outside the DeFi space, Solana's developers have made significant contributions to the diversification of network applications.

"Hackathons play a crucial role in the ongoing growth of the Solana network, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration," said Dan Albert, Executive Director of the Solana Foundation. "These events empower developers to create meaningful solutions that will disrupt various industries, solve real-world problems, and develop practical applications that can only be realized on Solana."

To further encourage the exploration of new application scenarios on the Solana network, the Cypherpunk online hackathon focuses on six key areas:

  • DeFi hosted by Arcium
  • RWA hosted by Forward Industries
  • Consumer applications hosted by Raydium
  • Stablecoins hosted by Reflect
  • Infrastructure hosted by Triton
  • Open track hosted by the Solana Foundation

The best projects will receive a $30,000 grand prize awarded by Phantom. Additionally, three special awards will be given for the best public welfare project, best campus project, and Solana mobile application project. Hackathon winners will also have the opportunity to be selected for the Colosseum accelerator program, receiving $250,000 in pre-seed funding, resource connections, and 1v1 support.

"We are very excited to host the next Solana Foundation hackathon on Colosseum," said Matty Taylor, co-founder of Colosseum. "The Solana developer community is vibrant, and we are honored to support them at this critical step in their journey. We look forward to collaborating with the Solana Foundation and many other partners in the Solana ecosystem to continue encouraging experimentation, entrepreneurial innovation, and solving real-world problems."

According to incomplete statistics, over the past four years of hackathons, more than 80,000 developers have participated in Solana-hosted hackathons, over 6,500 projects have launched, raising more than $700 million in total, giving rise to star projects such as Jito, Drift, Kamino, Tensor, io.net, Marinade, and Solend.
