The global crypto economy displayed extreme volatility over the past seven days, witnessing a gain of over $100 billion in total market capitalization, only to have it wiped out in just two days before recovering again. By the close of the week on Oct. 25th, the crypto economy’s market capitalization settled at approximately $3.83 trillion, marking a net increase of 3.5% over the seven-day period.

Bitcoin ( BTC) experienced a turbulent week, fluctuating wildly between Oct. 18 and 25. After starting the week at around $107,000, BTC rallied to a peak of approximately $113,500 on Oct. 21. However, the uptrend reversed, and by Oct. 23, the top cryptocurrency had dropped to just above $107,000. It then rebounded and was trading above $111,000 at the time of writing (Oct. 25, 2.46 p.m. EST).

Ether ( ETH) followed a similar pattern, surpassing the $4,000 mark twice before dropping in the subsequent trading sessions. ETH closed the week around $3,934, representing a 1.2% gain from its October 18 price. BNB, which had outperformed the broader market in September and early October, had a lackluster week. Although the pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) provided a temporary boost, it wasn’t enough to spark a sustained rally. According to Coingecko data, BNB peaked at over $1,140 after the pardon announcement before retreating and settling at just above $1,100.

XRP, on the other hand, ended the week on a high note, topping $2.60 after a 5% gain on Oct. 25. This late surge brought its seven-day gains to 10.5%, making it one of only two high-cap digital assets with double-digit gains over the period. Hyperliquid (HYPE) was the other, rising 8.9% in 24 hours and 17.7% over the week. Other notable gainers included Chainlink (LINK) at 7.3%, DOGE at 5%, SOL at 3.7%, and ADA at 3.5%. TRX was the only outlier among high-cap altcoins, closing the period 5% lower.”
