Concordium and Bitcoin.com have joined forces to bring age-verified, identity-anchored payments to millions of users globally. Concordium’s identity-first blockchain and native stablecoins will become accessible to Bitcoin.com’s multichain ecosystem, which includes top networks like Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain.
The integration, which is currently in development and set to launch soon, enables wallet owners to verify specific identity attributes, such as age or jurisdiction, without actually having to disclose personal information or manage complex identity handoffs. Indeed, verification happens off-chain through credible and independent third-party providers, with no personal data recorded on the blockchain. Each transaction is secured using zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology, ensuring complete privacy while meeting stringent regulatory requirements.

The integration comes at a time of growing concern over state-mandated digital IDs and centralized data collection. Concordium’s ‘1-Click Verify & Pay’ instead offers a seamless, decentralised, and privacy-first alternative, empowering users to prove eligibility without revealing their identity. Merchants will be now able to verify access as well as accept stablecoin payments for age-restricted products and services like alcohol, gambling, or adult content, ensuring lawful adherence without incurring complex setup or running costs. For the first time, blockchain provides a viable payment rail for e-commerce at scale.
The arrival of age-verified crypto payments addresses a critical gap highlighted by the widespread implementation of new safety laws, including in the UK, France, and several US states. The UK government has reported that an additional five million age checks are being made daily as UK-based internet users seek to access age-restricted sites following the implementation of the Online Safety Act. Similarly in the payments space, while the stablecoin market has crossed $308 billion, 99% of stablecoin transactions are locked into crypto trading ecosystems and have been unable to break out as mainstream payment solutions due to lack of verification.
In addition to facilitating greater use of stablecoins, Bitcoin.com and Concordium hope their partnership will assuage concerns about state-led digital surveillance by protecting users’ privacy when transacting online.
