On November 13, 2025, the decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) project Acurast announced that it has raised a total of $11 million in funding and will officially launch the Genesis mainnet on November 17, 2025, along with the release of its native token $ACU. Acurast is dedicated to building a decentralized, verifiable global computing network that transforms smartphones into confidential and verifiable computing nodes.

The $11 million funding includes non-dilutive grants and token-based financing from 2023 to 2025, with a public token sale held on CoinList in May 2025 exceeding expectations, raising $5.4 million. The investor lineup includes: Ethereum co-founder and Polkadot founder Dr. Gavin Wood; peaq founder Leonard Dörlochter; MN Capital founder Michael van de Poppe; Scytale Digital; GlueNet founder and CoinDesk "Most Influential" award winner Ogle; and Sigma Capital CEO Vineet Budki, among others.

Acurast founder Alessandro De Carli stated: "The launch of the mainnet means Acurast truly becomes an open global computing fabric accessible to the real world. The billions of smartphones worldwide are the most tested hardware on Earth. By allowing idle phones to participate in verifiable, confidential computing, we eliminate centralized gatekeepers, reduce costs, and enable anyone, anywhere to access secure, trustless computing power—without the need for data centers."

Acurast has demonstrated enterprise-level scale on its incentive testnet:

  • 146,443+ smartphones have been connected to provide computing power;
  • Developers have completed 85,784+ deployments;
  • The network has processed a total of 489 million+ on-chain transactions;
  • 179,000 on-chain accounts have been generated.

These real devices have undertaken tasks with high confidentiality and integrity requirements. Plans, including "Cloud Rebellion," are further expanding the network's reach and rewarding early contributors.

Acurast's core advantage lies in combining the tamper-proof execution environment of consumer smartphones with hardware security verification. Unlike computing power markets that rely on self-reported configurations or server-based TEE solutions, Acurast verifies the authenticity of each device through encryption and executes tasks in a cryptographic isolation zone, ensuring that even the device owner cannot access sensitive data, thus achieving censorship-resistant, decentralized secure computing.

Sigma Capital CEO Vineet Budki stated: "Acurast is building a user-owned computing layer that perfectly aligns with the direction of AI development. Hardware verification, confidentiality based on isolation zones, and the potential scale of billions of smartphones together create a moat that is difficult to replicate with traditional server models."

MN Capital founder Michael van de Poppe added: "Acurast's execution capability is impressive—they have truly delivered a product and validated demand before the mainnet launch. Turning everyday smartphones into verifiable, revenue-generating computing nodes is an important step towards inclusivity and scalability."

After the mainnet launch, Acurast will integrate various development interfaces covering Web3 protocols and enterprise systems, allowing direct embedding into mainstream blockchains and traditional infrastructures, enabling teams to trigger secure off-chain execution in familiar environments. In addition to empowering decentralized applications (dApps), Acurast also provides enterprises with censorship-resistant, verifiable backend infrastructure that can support various tasks such as automation, AI computing, web scraping, and infrastructure resilience testing, helping businesses achieve privacy-preserving computing in compliance or data-sensitive environments.
