The 65th Anniversary Dinner of the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) and the 2025 HKMA Sustainable Development Awards Ceremony was successfully held on November 17 (Monday) at the Hong Kong Harbour Hotel. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu GBM SBS PDSM PMSM, served as the guest of honor at the HKMA 65th Anniversary Dinner, celebrating the occasion with numerous leaders from the political and business sectors.

In his speech at the HKMA 65th Anniversary Dinner, Chief Executive John Lee mentioned that Hong Kong has a world-class education system and highly internationalized universities, attracting many non-local students to study and develop in the city. In recent years, through various talent introduction programs, over 230,000 professionals have been attracted to Hong Kong, many of whom are engaged in innovation and technology as well as finance. He particularly thanked HKMA for collaborating with the government to host the "Hong Kong International Talent Career Expo," assisting new talents in integrating into the local job market.
He also emphasized that Hong Kong maintains its competitiveness under "one country, two systems," recently ranking high in several international reports, including being recognized as the world's freest economy and one of the top three financial centers globally. The government will continue to promote the "Going Global" and "Northern Metropolis" initiatives, working hand in hand with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the "Belt and Road" initiative to drive Hong Kong towards excellence, innovation, and growth.

Professor Eric Yim GBS JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Management Association, shared in his welcome speech that since its establishment in 1960, HKMA has been dedicated to enhancing management standards in Hong Kong and the surrounding areas, playing a crucial role in supporting the government in promoting economic growth and development. He pointed out that from the 1970s to the 2000s, HKMA supported Hong Kong's transformation into a knowledge-based economy through diverse management programs. During a time when there were only two universities in Hong Kong, HKMA was the first to launch diploma courses in business management and management studies, nurturing nearly 28,000 management talents to date. HKMA has also been a pioneer in introducing quality overseas degree programs, allowing working professionals to enhance their qualifications while working.
In recent years, to align with the government's policy of developing Hong Kong into a global green finance center, HKMA established the HKMA Sustainable Development Awards in 2016 and founded the HKMA Global ESG Management Center in 2021, with related courses training over 8,500 executives. To support Hong Kong in becoming an international innovation and technology hub, HKMA established the HKMA Global Innovation Management Center in 2018 and launched the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Awards in 2022, offering various courses in big data, innovation, and artificial intelligence. To support the government in developing Hong Kong as a high-end talent hub, HKMA collaborated with the Hong Kong Talent and Professionals Association to launch the Hong Kong International Talent Career Expo, showcasing thousands of quality job positions and attracting over 24,000 new talents to help them integrate into work and life in Hong Kong.
At the meeting, Chairman Eric Yim particularly encouraged everyone to fulfill their civic responsibility by actively voting in the Legislative Council elections on December 7.
Professor Simon Lee, Chairman of the HKMA 65th Anniversary Organizing Committee and Vice Chairman of HKMA, mentioned in his thank-you speech that to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Hong Kong Management Association, the organizing committee has planned a series of meaningful activities, including the HKMA 65th Anniversary "Together, Grateful, Race Day" event; the "Excellence in Innovation, Growth and Win-Win" themed annual summit, sharing 12 inspiring stories from Hong Kong; a series of short video interviews with business leaders aimed at equipping the younger generation to embrace future opportunities; and the establishment of the HKMA 65th Anniversary Talent Development Fund, allocating one million Hong Kong dollars to support one hundred working individuals in continuing education. These activities demonstrate HKMA's commitment to promoting excellent management and nurturing future leaders in Hong Kong.
Reflecting on HKMA's sixty-five-year journey, Ms. Margaret Wu, President of the Hong Kong Management Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude to HKMA Chairman Eric Yim GBS JP, HKMA Vice Chairmen Professor Simon Lee, Mr. Cheng Shun-keung, Mr. Cheung Tung-kiang, all honorary chairmen, past councils, and committee members, as well as every colleague from various sectors who have cooperated closely with HKMA, generously sponsored, selflessly contributed, and actively participated. She stated that over the past sixty-five years, HKMA has been dedicated to promoting excellent management development in Hong Kong and the surrounding areas. We hold nine management competitions each year to set industry benchmarks, facilitating continuous progress in the industry through the sharing of success stories by awardees. Looking ahead, HKMA will continue to enhance management professionalism and make greater contributions to the business community and society.
