El Salvador is prepared to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI) led educational experience into their classrooms.

The country has announced a collaboration with xAI, Elon Musk’s AI startup, to implement a nationwide rollout of Grok, the LLM model, during the next 2 years, to aid Salvadoran students in their educational journey.

According to a press release, the model will be implemented across 5,000 schools in El Salvador, going from cities to more rural environments.

The experience seeks to provide a personalized learning experience for each student, with Grok adapting to the particularities, language, learning pace, and interests of every student.

In the same way, the experience will serve xAI and El Salvador to “generate validated methodologies, datasets, and regulatory practices to guide global AI-education deployments and establish the governance, auditing, and safety frameworks required for the responsible use of AI in classrooms.”

The development puts the Government of El Salvador and xAI as pioneers of the AI-imbued education worldwide, this being the first time that such an experiment is taken at a nation-state level.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele declared:

El Salvador doesn’t just wait for the future to happen; we build it. With xAI as the leader in frontier models and El Salvador as a testbed for innovation, this partnership is destined to deliver something rather extraordinary for all of humanity.

Elon Musk, founder of xAI, stated that “by partnering with President Bukele to bring Grok to every student in El Salvador, we’re putting the most advanced AI directly in the hands of an entire generation.”
