How long has it been since Binance Alpha last launched a Solana meme coin? The last Solana coin launched on Binance Alpha was JELLYJELLY ($JELLY) on February 26, 2025, which was nearly a year ago.
The reason $JELLY was launched is not "pure" and is related to the Hyperliquid incident. If we set the standard a bit stricter and exclude AI meme coins like Zerebro and elizaOS that can "work," the last pure Solana meme coin that was launched on Binance Alpha without other influencing factors was Fartcoin, on December 18, 2024.
We have finally waited for another Solana meme coin to launch on Binance Alpha—$PENGUIN (Nietzschean Penguin).
The story of this token originates from a viral clip in the 2007 documentary "Encounters at the End of the World" by German director Werner Herzog. In that clip, a penguin turns its back on its colony and heads towards the sea, the place of food and life.
For the sake of the sea, it ventures alone inland towards a distant iceberg, a journey of 5,000 kilometers. Everyone knows this means hunger and cold, exhaustion, and certain death.

By the mid-2010s, this video became widely known for its "nihilistic" interpretation. In late August 2015, YouTube user Seppe uploaded this clip to YouTube titled "Nihilist Penguin," and this version quickly went viral, garnering nearly 2 million views to date.

This old meme has gradually regained vitality on TikTok and Instagram this year. As the name of this meme "Nietzschean Penguin/Nihilist Penguin" suggests, most related viral videos and memes include the keyword "But Why," as people around the world question themselves through this meme—why must my life be lived this way?
The secular world tells us to find a good job, to marry and have children, to think less about meaningless or unrealistic things, but isn't the meaning of life found in our exploration of life's meaning in the way we desire? They ask us why, but there is no why; that is what we want to do. Living authentically, without caring about the judgment of the secular world, is to transcend oneself.
If we follow the original development path of this meme, $PENGUIN, like $NEET, reflects the contemporary desire for self-exploration and awakening of self-awareness in escaping the secular "system" and pursuing freedom. However, the White House's use of this meme has given it a new meaning, transforming this meme coin from a social media trend/awareness type into a political one.
At 6 AM yesterday, the White House's X account tweeted, "Embrace the penguin," accompanied by an image of the "Nietzschean Penguin" holding an American flag, walking towards a distant iceberg alongside Trump.

Later that same day at 10:30 PM, the White House's X account quoted the tweet again, adding the text, "This penguin never cares about the opinions of those who do not understand it."
These two tweets coincided with Trump publicly expressing interest in purchasing Greenland again. Trump proposed this idea back in 2019, and after experiencing a tumultuous journey of falling from power and being re-elected, he still has not given up on his desire for Greenland.
This desire is seen by most as a kind of mad obsession. The White House's use of this meme amplifies the personal perspective of exploring the meaning of life, emphasizing that Trump does not care about ridicule and real-world obstacles, but rather dares to think and act, moving forward with determination, packaging Trump's "madness" as a pursuit of heroism and America First.
The accompanying image sparked a lot of ridicule. Netizens pointed out that there are no penguins in the Arctic, a common-sense error akin to Trump's suggestion during the pandemic to inject disinfectant to kill the virus. Interestingly, many netizens elevated this image further, linking Trump's proposal to buy Greenland with the history of the U.S. purchasing Alaska from Russia in 1867, viewing it as America's "manifest destiny," that the U.S. has a unique mission to expand its influence, spread its system, or acquire resources.
And no penguins in the Arctic? No problem, if Trump wants it, Trump gets it. This is interpreted as a kind of Trump-style humor, conveying the spirit of "reality doesn't matter, willpower is what matters."
At this point, we can understand why $PENGUIN is expected by crypto players in a way similar to $PNUT. This expectation resonates with the reality of Solana meme coins—after that glorious meme season, it has been too long since we have seen a meme coin that breaks the $100 million market cap within 10 days of token deployment.
The fact that Binance Alpha is launching a "pure" Solana meme coin after more than a year has excited crypto players, seen as Binance once again opening its arms to Solana meme coins and the beginning of a revival for Solana meme coins.
This time, can we dare to hope that we will truly receive it?
