Build your competitiveness in the AI era.

On Friday, a set of photos circulated widely online.

This set of photos shows Tencent employees helping citizens install Xiaolongxia (OpenClaw) for free. In the photos, crowds of people formed long lines, winding around the square. Tencent employees were focused and diligently helping everyone install the system, while enthusiastic young people in the queue patiently waited.

I remember a post online last week offering paid installation services, and in just a week this installation service became free.

This indicates that major domestic companies have transitioned from focusing on large models to the popularization of AI applications, hoping to introduce new traffic into their ecosystems; on the other hand, it also reflects the public's enthusiasm for AI.

The public's enthusiasm for AI has been especially prominent in recent years as AI has developed rapidly.

From the earliest ChatGPT to later applications like Gemini, DeepSeek, Nano Banana, Manus, Seedance, ... every time one of these applications emerges, it greatly impacts ordinary people.

I remember when Xiaolongxia first emerged last year, it shocked the entire internet, and many people were anxious to test it as soon as they heard about it, fearing they would miss out again.

Earlier, I also experienced this kind of anxiety. But later I changed my perspective; the best way is to find my own entry point into AI instead of trying to master and understand all of AI comprehensively.

At least for me, the vast majority of these tools do not serve as much of a function as I initially imagined, and it is not necessary to research and use each one in depth.

For some applications like Seedance, I haven't used them. This is a video-making tool, but in my daily life and work, there aren’t many scenarios where I would use such tools.

I have not installed Xiaolongxia yet because I have not found specific situations where I particularly need it.

My current situation is that there are hardly any processes or routine tasks to perform in my daily life and work. The most I do is consume information. The information I consume has been refined, filtering out most of the noise, so I don’t need to massively search for various data sources across the internet.

What truly helps my work are the most commonly used AI tools. I frequently converse with these tools, and whenever I have ideas, I ask AI, hoping it can provide me with different perspectives and point out the gaps and differences in my thinking. Therefore, those most commonly used AI tools capable of deep thinking are sufficient for me.

I have always believed that to maximize personal value, one should not indiscriminately shore up their weaknesses, but rather do everything possible to strengthen their strengths, building a moat that is deep and wide enough.

In the era of AI, various tools have become more powerful and efficient due to AI, thus accelerating all processes and activities.

However, everyone’s time, energy, and money are limited; we cannot afford to spend massive amounts of time, energy, and money trying out every cool AI tool that appears.

Even if we had the resources to traverse and try all AI, the likely outcome would be merely skimming the surface of everything, not mastering anything.

Instead, I believe that in this context, to avoid being eliminated by AI or scorned by the times, we must find our strengths, discover particularly suited AI tools, and double down on AI in one or a few niche areas, reinforcing our strengths tenfold or hundredfold and building a more solid moat.

By doing this, we can not only alleviate the anxiety brought about by AI but also build our competitiveness in the era of AI.
