In the article from a few days ago, I shared the various "skills" that the Uniswap team has specifically released for AI Agents. With these skills, AI Agents can now operate on Uniswap independently without human intervention.
When introducing this news, I speculated that this practice would likely spread to other cryptocurrency projects. Sure enough, just in the last couple of days, the classic project OpenSea in the NFT space released tools specifically equipped for AI Agents.
According to the official announcement, this is a command-line interface tool for AI Agents. With this tool, AI Agents can directly query NFT collections, tokens, list items, and make offers on OpenSea, execute NFT trades on the Seaport market, and trade ERC-20 tokens through OpenSea's decentralized trading aggregator.
In simple terms: AI Agents can now operate on OpenSea without human intervention.
In fact, not only decentralized trading platforms, even major centralized platforms in the crypto ecosystem (like some exchanges) are now providing various tools for AI Agents to operate freely.
Following the current trend, various projects in the crypto ecosystem (whether centralized or decentralized) will soon become platforms where AI Agents can roam freely.
This reminds me of an "interesting event" that occurred at the end of last year in the Web 2 ecosystem:
Byte's Doubao and a subsidiary of ZTE jointly launched a smartphone. This smartphone allows users to interact directly with AI Agents to access various apps.
In my view, this is a disruptive product.
The significance of its disruption lies in its complete alteration of the interfaces and access methods for traffic in the AI era.
If this product can be successfully launched, then in the future, all we need to do is interact with the AI Agent on our phones to accomplish tasks that currently require logging into various apps.
For example, if we want to order takeout, we can just tell the AI Agent to order takeout, instead of logging into Meituan; if we want to shop online, we simply have to tell the AI Agent what we want, instead of opening Taobao; if we want to watch videos, we just need to tell the AI Agent what we want to watch, instead of opening Douyin or video accounts...
As a result, AI Agents can completely shield all apps, deciding which app to invoke. The traffic entrances currently controlled by various apps would then be fully controlled by AI Agents.
Therefore, the various advertising fees and tolls charged by different apps based on their traffic entrances would all be intercepted by AI Agents.
Thus, this type of application could threaten the very existence of these current Web 2 apps.
Indeed, after the launch of the Doubao smartphone, Alibaba, Tencent, Meituan, and others all expressed opposition, unanimously stating that they do not support the direct invocation of AI Agents.
Of course, their reasoning is very "lofty": for the user's safety.
However, the big players in Web 2 are not entirely against AI Agents; they only oppose others' AI Agents. Within their own ecosystems, they are striving to promote their own AI Agents. But these AI Agents can only survive within their respective ecosystems and are isolated, unable to interconnect or link up.
Unlike the resistance of Web 2 titans to universal AI Agents, the big players in Web 3 are forming a distinctly different trend. As mentioned earlier, they are eagerly following the trend by launching their own interfaces, facilitating the free invocation by any AI Agents.
I believe the fundamental reason for this essential difference may be that the big players in Web 3 are currently unable to rely heavily on advertising, traffic, and entrances like Web 2 giants. Hence, they do not carry the historical burdens in this regard and can instead approach with a light load, seizing this wave trend.
I wonder: is it possible that this could develop into a singularity of AI + Crypto integration in the near future?
Can AI integrate with Web 3 more quickly and closely compared to traditional Web 2?
If that is the case, then the explosion of the entire Web 3 ecosystem would certainly not be an empty phrase, but rather a historical tide that no one can hold back.
