PANews May 5 news, according to the Korean Central News Agency, a spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry responded to reporters' questions on May 3 regarding the United States' hype over the so-called North Korean "cyber threat," stating that U.S. government agencies, media, and related organizations have recently attempted to spread misconceptions about North Korea to the international community, linking cyber-related fraud activities worldwide to North Korea.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman claimed that it is unreasonable for the United States to portray itself as a "victim" and accused the U.S. of using its control over global IT infrastructure to carry out indiscriminate cyber attacks against other countries. He also stated that the media hype around the so-called "cyber threat" is a continuation of the U.S. policy of hostility towards North Korea, aimed at disseminating false information for political purposes and damaging North Korea's image.
The spokesman stated that North Korea will protect cyberspace from malicious acts and opposes using cyber issues as a political tool for infringing sovereignty and interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. North Korea will not tolerate attempts by hostile forces to confront, including in cyberspace, and will take necessary measures to safeguard national interests and citizens' rights.
