Ripple has received preliminary approval of its CASP license. Cassie Craddock, UK CEO and Managing Director, UK and Europe, reacts to this big regulatory milestone.

In an announcement today, Ripple disclosed that it has received preliminary approval for its Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) under the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation. This follows Ripple's receipt of its EMI license and Cryptoasset Registration from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority in January 2026.

The CASP preliminary approval, in the form of a 'Green Light Letter,' will enable Ripple to scale regulated cryptoasset services for financial institutions and businesses across all 30 countries of the European Economic Area. This will enable the full rollout of Ripple Payments across the European Economic Area and position the company for broader cryptoasset activity in the region.

Upon full approval, the combination of CASP and EMI licenses will make Ripple fully MiCA-compliant, with the company now holding more than 75 regulatory licences globally.

Next wave of institutional digital asset adoption in Europe arrives

In a post celebrating the milestone, Craddock revealed the news of the preliminary approval, noting that once fully approved, European banks and fintechs will be able to access Ripple's end-to-end cryptoasset and stablecoin payments infrastructure through a single regulated integration.

The CASP license, combined with Ripple's existing EU Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence, means that European banks, fintechs and corporates can access Ripple's full crypto-asset and stablecoin payments infrastructure. They can collect, exchange and pay out through a single integration for the first time.

The licence also positions Ripple to expand into broader crypto-asset activities in the region as it continues to meet increasing European demand for digital asset services and infrastructure. Europe is already a leading region for Ripple's products, with a client base that spans some of the largest financial institutions.

This will usher in the next phase of crypto adoption in the region: "the next wave of institutional digital asset adoption in Europe is here," Craddock added.
