The recent BTC market situation may be the most uncomfortable state for many traders.
There is no crash, nor a breakout. Prices fluctuate a few hundred dollars up and down every day, and the intra-day volatility is even less than 1%. The Bollinger Bands continue to narrow, and the market seems to be on pause.
But the more "boring" the market is, the more it deserves caution.
In the 【World Community】 live stream on August 10th, Teacher Guo focused on breaking down the current BTC weekly and daily structures and provided a very important judgment:
What really deserves attention now is not whether BTC will rise or fall imminently, but why it has been stagnant for so long yet has not fallen.
If a downtrend cannot be established, then the market’s trading logic may be quietly changing.

01 How stagnant is BTC?
First, look at the most intuitive market performance.
Recently, BTC has been continuously showing narrow fluctuations, with intra-day changes at one point being less than 1%, and the Bollinger Bands are also continually narrowing.
During the live stream of 【World Community】, it was mentioned that this is not a typical narrow fluctuation, but rather an extreme contraction of volatility.
The question arises: Why is BTC so quiet?
Generally speaking, a prolonged flat price means that both the bulls and bears temporarily lack sufficient strength to break the balance.
However, such extreme compression is difficult to sustain indefinitely.
We may not judge direction for now, but one thing is becoming clearer: Volatility will eventually return.
Therefore, the most important thing now is not to guess the price increase or decrease in advance, but to be ready for a real breakout when it appears.
The strategy during the live stream was also very clear: Do not bet on a direction in advance; wait for the market to establish a breakout before following.
This is actually more important than rushing to go long or short right now.
Because in this kind of market, the greatest risk is not missing the first K-line, but rather filling your position prematurely without a clear direction.
02 After two months of stagnation, what changes are occurring in bearish logic?
From a broader perspective, this market phase has actually been stagnant for a long time.
Since early June, the market has been debating one question: Is this really a bottom?
However, two months have passed, and BTC has neither truly breached key moving averages nor continued to generate new trending declines.
This has led to a very interesting phenomenon: If the market really wants to trend downward, why has it persistently failed to fall despite the lengthy timeframe?
A core judgment from the live stream is: Not being able to fall is, in itself, a signal.
The drop in early June clearly opened up the Bollinger Bands, and under normal trend logic, we should see continued downward spread thereafter.
But the actual trend did not unfold this way.
After quickly rebounding from the price drop, it entered a prolonged period of horizontal trading.
The structure that could have formed a trending decline has slowly been consumed by the sideways movement.
This relates to the "trap the bears" logic mentioned in the live stream: If the price wants to continue falling, it should quickly open up space downward; but it hasn’t.
Furthermore, the longer the sideways movement lasts, the more unfavorable it becomes for bears. Because a genuinely strong decline usually does not give the market this much time to hesitate.
03 No price increase does not mean the market is unchanged
If we only look at the K-lines, BTC indeed doesn’t seem interesting now. However, another observation worth noting from the live stream is the change in trading volume.
Indicators like VR and OBV show that although the price is still stagnant, the volume has not continued to show significant deterioration. Particularly, as the price has been stagnant longer, the volume has shown a certain degree of upward change.
What does this mean? At least it indicates: The downward momentum in the market has not continued to strengthen. It can even be understood that while the price is flat, the market is conducting a round of re-absorption and accumulation of strength.
It’s important to note that this does not mean "volume is rising, so BTC will spike immediately." What is truly worth noting is: The price has not continued to fall, and the volume has not collapsed along with it.
This is different from previous typical downtrend conditions.
In past clear down cycles, as the price declined, the volume also failed to sustain, quickly forming a rebound before declining again.
In this instance, similar continuous decline conditions have not reappeared.
Therefore, from a weekly perspective, the market is gradually transitioning from: "Is there a possibility of continued decline?"
To: "If it can't fall, shouldn’t it take a round of rebound first?"
04 However, there is a very important distinction: rebound does not equal reversal
This is also the point I believe is most worth extracting from this live stream.
Watching for a rebound does not mean watching for a bull market.
The current weekly chart is closer to "a rebound expectation after a decline" rather than confirming a new trending rise.
These two concepts must be distinguished clearly.
The live stream of 【World Community】 also clearly stated that there is no need to directly judge future target prices over the next few months or more.
The reason is simple: The current market phase has not yet played out; there's no need to guess what will happen months later.
First, focus on the current market situation, then judge based on the subsequent movements.
Therefore, the current logic is more like:
No downtrend has formed → Weekly chart stops falling → Monitor for a rebound → Then determine if the rebound can evolve into a trend.
Instead of: It can’t fall → BTC immediately enters a new bull market.
This distinction is very significant.
05 The true "call to action" relies on the daily chart
The weekly chart addresses one issue: Is the bearish trend beginning to lose its advantage?
But when to enter the market is still determined by the daily chart.
Currently, BTC is still in a continuously prolonged trading range.
The judgment of the daily chart during the live stream is quite clear: It is still not a trending rise.
Even if the price rises, it is more likely to test the upper key levels in a fluctuating manner first.
One important observation point is the $68,000 area near MA120.
If it merely touches here and continues to oscillate or retrace, it still falls under the range-bound market.
Only by truly breaking through key moving averages, along with volume and other conditions, can the discussion about whether the trending rise has genuinely commenced be further explored.
Thus, the $68,000 area is more like a "validation point," rather than a simply defined target level.
At this point, the market needs to answer a question once again: Is this a rebound in a consolidation phase, or has a trend truly begun?
06 So should we go long or short now?
The answer may be simpler than expected: Don’t rush.
The current market's greatest certainty is not its direction, but that volatility has been compressed to a very low level. At such times, the cost-effectiveness of betting on direction is not high.
If there’s a sudden downward breakout, shorts can follow; if there’s a sudden upward breakout, longs can also follow.
What is truly worth doing is waiting for the market to provide the answer.
This was also a repeatedly emphasized trading philosophy in the 【World Community】 live stream: Do not engage in dead-long or dead-short positions; instead, follow the trend.
Especially in such extreme narrow fluctuations, rather than guessing “Will it drop today?” it’s better to focus on a few genuinely important signals:
- Did the price break through the trading range?
- Is the volume keeping up?
- Has the daily chart really broken through key moving averages?
- Can a trend form after the breakout, rather than just a spike and retrace?
These questions are more meaningful than guessing a direction in advance.
07 What truly deserves attention about BTC may not be "when will it rise," but "when will the stagnation end"
Connecting the views from this live stream, the logic is very clear:
Step 1: BTC has entered an extreme narrow range, with volatility continuously compressing.
Step 2: Since June, the price has not continued to break down; the original bearish logic is being consumed by time.
Step 3: The volume on the weekly chart has not continued to deteriorate, and signs of halting declines are gradually becoming clearer.
Step 4: Currently leaning toward observing a weekly rebound first, but it cannot be directly equated to a trend reversal.
Step 5: The real turning point from "consolidation upward" to "trending upward" still relies on a breakout on the daily chart.
Therefore, what is most worth focusing on now is not "Will the next K-line of BTC rise or fall?".
But rather: When will this prolonged period of stagnation finally end?
Once the extremely compressed volatility is broken, the market may quickly re-enter a phase of direction and volatility.
At that time, what truly matters is not guessing the right direction, but whether you are prepared with your trading plan.
