Recently, I have been gathering more with many old friends, and naturally, the old ideas keep arising.

However, I don't think the old ideas are bad; on the contrary, they have their own value and wisdom.

Ten years ago, I thought many truths were clichés.

As I grow older and have gone through some experiences, my friends and I often talk about those who seem to rise high and host guests, but we also see the buildings collapse, and only then do I slowly understand:

Many so-called old ideas are actually wisdom gained at the cost of time and experiences; if you don't understand them now, there will always be a moment when you will!

For example, one should not be too greedy, nor should one entertain false thoughts.

For example, having wealth, children, and longevity; if one can obtain two or three of these, it is already a tremendous blessing.

Especially when several old friends discuss some old acquaintances, we increasingly feel this matter:

Some had immense wealth ten years ago, and now they are in jail;

Some charged ahead, and in the end, their families are shattered;

Some have worked in the officialdom for a decade, and when looking back, it's just a fleeting dream.

The more I see, the more I feel that the greatest achievement in life is not how much wealth one accumulates or what status one holds, but understanding when to withdraw bravely from the current, knowing one's capabilities, and understanding what to fight for and what to let go.

Treasure what you gain, do not force what you lose; be able to gain, and also be able to relinquish; be able to advance, and also be able to retreat. This may be a person's true "gain."

The Book of Changes says: Loss and gain, humility is beneficial; when the moon is full, it wanes; a proud dragon has regrets.

Fortune should not be fully enjoyed, power should not be fully utilized, words should not be fully spoken, and matters should not be fully done.

These, perhaps, are our old ideas.

You might say they are useless, for those who haven't experienced a few things may indeed find them useless, but if one truly realizes their usefulness one day, that might be the day of true rebirth for a person.
